Horace Memorial Hall was erected during the summer of 1885 by Thomas Martin. It memorialized his oldest son, Horace Burley Martin, who died March 13, 1885 at the age of 20. The building was occupied as a Baptist church for over 100 years until congregation numbers dwindled. The property was vacant for a number of years. In 2017, the building was thoughtfully repurposed as 10 residential condominiums. Many original features remain including hardwood flooring, stained glass windows and components of the pipe organ.
This is another Win-Win for Chelsea. The reclaimed church will now be homes known as the Thomas Martin Lofts for ten or more people and will add to the many loft buildings in the neighborhood that was all boarded up only fifteen years ago with many abandoned and run down buildings. This makes The Mill Hill Neighborhood into what many consider to be the New Chelsea Loft District along with The Davinci Lofts, The Spencer Lofts, The Keen Lofts, Spencer Lofts and One Webster. The Box District, Admiral’s Hill, Prattville, Powder horn Hill and the Waterfront District are some of the other Great Neighborhood’s in Chelsea.
Thanks to Roback Real Estate and Jems Financial for making this dream a reality. This reclamation was no easy feat and I have so much respect for everyone involved. I don’t know another person who would have and could have transformed this into what it has now become, which are ten stunning loft condominiums that will exceed all the buyers expectations.
We expect a very high interest in this project and are hoping to sell this whole project out within thirty days. We are hoping to sell the whole project out very quickly as there is no other place like this anywhere in or near the city of Boston for the price range that has the quality, layouts and thoughtfulness put into every aspect of the condos. We anticipate multiple offers on multiple units and we expect to knock this project out of the park.
