CHELSEA, Mass. – In March 2019, the Chelsea Record put the city’s real estate resurgence on its front page, headlining the team set to unveil Parker Place: broker Jeffrey Bowen and his partner, Sandra Castillo, of ERA Russell Realty Group.
Parker Place, at 87 Parker Street at the corner of Spencer Avenue, brought 12 new luxury condominiums to market in a seven-story elevator building – 11 two-bedroom, two-bath homes and one two-bedroom, one-bath home, priced from $449,000 to $539,000. Four of the units have roof decks and eight have balconies, and the building includes one affordable home for medium-income residents. Bowen and Castillo hosted open houses every Saturday and Sunday, 12-2 p.m., as the project drew significant interest from buyers.
The development was built by Jason Roback of Roback Real Estate, and it was the third major project Bowen marketed with the developer, following the Beacon Condominiums at 81 Broadway and the Thomas Martin Lofts at 204 Spencer Avenue. In the Record’s telling, the unveiling was about more than one building – it marked how far two decades of work by city officials and the community had carried Chelsea.
“Chelsea is booming,” Bowen told the Record, pointing to comparable condos priced 25-50 percent higher just a mile or two away in East Boston and Charlestown. “Sandra and I are our team and we work well together helping people find the residence of their dreams.”
Castillo made the team’s pitch to sellers just as plainly: “Whenever we go in to a building, we actually get the highest price for the seller.”
The story has a postscript the front page could not have known: within the year, Bowen and Castillo would take their partnership to Boston Harbor Real Estate, and Parker Place would stand as one of the signature Chelsea launches of the decade – announced under a headline that paired both of their names with the city’s resurgence.
