CHELSEA, Mass. – In April 2016, Boston Magazine’s “On the Market” series featured a small Chelsea condo with outsized character: 51 Broadway #1, a 737-square-foot, one-bedroom home listed by Jeffrey Bowen of ERA Russell Realty Group at $275,000.

The home sits in a circa-1857 brick building in Chelsea’s South End – originally a corner storefront, later converted into condominiums – with views of the Tobin Bridge and Admiral’s Hill a short walk away. Inside, the magazine singled out the details that survived from the building’s first life: original pressed-tin ceilings and an abundance of exposed brick, paired with a recently renovated kitchen and bath. A mobile kitchen island, retractable stairs up to the bedroom, and a den that could double as a guest room made the compact floor plan work harder than its square footage suggested.

This was a listing feature – the home was the subject, and Bowen was its listing broker – and the magazine closed the piece by sending readers to him directly, at ERA Russell Realty Group.
