EAST BOSTON, Mass. – In May 2019, Boston.com’s Spring House Hunt series featured one of Jeffrey Bowen’s most distinctive listings: a condominium carved out of a former East Boston church, arranged over three levels of living space.
The home took the raw material of a converted church – volume, height, and light that no conventional floor plan starts with – and stacked a full home inside it across three floors. It was the second former-church conversion Bowen brought to regional attention, after the Thomas Martin Lofts at 204 Spencer Avenue in Chelsea two years earlier.
