22 Willard Street, Chelsea, MA 02150. A grand victorian home for sale high upon Powderhorn Hill.

A preserved grand Victorian home atop Powderhorn Hill in Chelsea. Please note that the video and older pictures are from the previous sale. The seller’s have made updates since owning the home and I am including the new pictures below.

22 Willard Street is the Charles Kibby House built in circa 1895 by J. H. Kibby and Son. Charles is the son of the building firm. Charles, his wife Elizabeth, and a grand daughter lived here until 1921 when Charles died. The Victorian was built to include a second mirror image dwelling on the other side of the cellar to attic roof brick wall for Charles’ son Frank who owned a jewelry emporium on Broadway, Chelsea. The more elegant features of stained glass, fluted columns between the side parlor and entry, the original newel post figure, serving hatch in the dining room to a former butler pantry, and bow front living room, of course, were put on the senior Kibby side. Both townhouses boast a beautiful Low Art Tile fireplace surround. The two built in glass-doored cupboards and the unusually spacious and numerous closets reflect a forward thinking Charles Kibby in Victorian times.
J. H. Kibby and Son were prominent builders in Massachusetts. Their construction skills are reflected in this house. They were responsible for building such notable structures as Saugus Town Hall complex and marketed themselves mainly as church builders, although the Mount Washington School in Everett was also contracted out to them.
