Swanky lofts, tasty taquerias, and breathtaking city views are just a few of the hidden gems Chelsea has in store for potential and recent newcomers.
Under the shade of the Tobin Bridge, you can also discover an ever-evolving art scene that’s been flourishing in the city for decades. And there’s perhaps no better way to experience it than the 6th Annual Chelsea Art Walk, a yearly celebration of local art and culture.
The Chelsea Art Walk is organized annually by the Chelsea Artists’ Collaborative (CHARCOLL) and offers the public a chance to visit galleries, historical sites, and artist venues in Chelsea – all for free. Sponsored venues include the Chelsea Community Garden, The Gallery @ Chelsea City (be sure to try their Costa Rican dark roast!), The Apollinaire Theatre, the Mystic Brewery, New England Sculpture Services, and The Gallery @ Spencer Lofts.
The Governor Bellingham-Cary House Museum will also be open to the public with free guided tours. Dating back to 1659, this beautiful Chelsea house museum (built by Massachusetts governor Richard Bellingham) will be showcasing paintings of Chelsea by local author and artist Arnie Casavant.
A free shuttle is available all day during walk hours and stops at all walk venues- for the complete map, click the “Free Map” button on http://www.chelseaartwalk.com/.
This year’s featured local artists include Darlene Devita (photographer and resident of Spencer Lofts– see my listings for available Chelsea lofts at Spencer here ), the late stained glass artist Michael Limberakis of World Glass Arts, Somerville artist Ariel Friedberg, multimedia artist Danielle Festa, North Shore sculptor Beverly Seamans, and many more.
I am a sponsor of this year’s Chelsea Art Walk. Other sponsors include the Chelsea Cultural Council, the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce, and Eastern Minerals, Inc. CHARCOLL is still looking for volunteers, sponsors, and artists- if you want to take part in this event (or hear about future CHARCOLL events), please email johnkpho@verizon.net.
The 2013 Chelsea Art Walk is being held on June 15 & 16. The Art Walk hours are 12-6PM.
If you’re interested in renting or owning a house or loft in Chelsea MA, I encourage you to check out this year’s Chelsea Art Walk, where you can see some of the exciting things happening in this up-and-coming city. Meet great members of our ever-growing community, grab brunch at the Chelsea City, and take this opportunity to “find out” about Chelsea- before everyone else does.
Hope to see you there! The official poster with more info is below.
